The founding father of the so called Tropical Modernism, Geoffrey Bawa was one of the most influential and prolific Asian Architects of his generation. Born in Sri Lanka in 1919, he established a new standard of design that combines traditional forms and a distinctive contemporary style, in accordance with the tropical context of his native Ceylon.

1883 met Christopher Beaver – a London-based architect who helped Bawa to organise his first exhibition in the UK – to talk about his long-time collaboration with the undisputed Sri Lankan master.
