1883 Magazine

Last week we teamed up with MaDa Music for our first of monthly ‘1883’ live nights at Cargo, bringing to stage the best of the latest UK music talent.

Headlining, we had the brilliant Vanessa White who made her solo debut, stepping out of the shadow of the of the UK’s biggest girl bands The Saturdays.  She dazzled the 250 capacity crowed, 1883 competition winners and journalists alike as she performed tracks from hew newly released EP ‘Chapter One’.

With her former band mates in the audience, she looked stunning in a lace-up black latex bodysuit playing her hit tracks ‘Relationship Goals’ and  ‘Nostalgia’ with her silky yet powerful voice, along with 1883 favourite ’Lipstick Kisses’. Taking inspirations from what could be a Flying Lotus collaboration but then adding her own melodic, soulful beat, it’s track that is bound to be a shore fire hit.  The surprise of the night was Wretch 32 joining her on stage for the track, adding extra grit and energy to the evening.

Supporting Vanessa we had two incredible acts, both on our ‘ones-to-watch’ list for 2016.

First up was the mesmerising singer-songwriter Corey Fox-Fardell, playing a selections of tracks from EP’s ‘ Feel My Love’ and ‘The Fox and It’s Prey’.

Followed by London based electronic duo HVMNS. Made up of Emmy winning producer/writer Guus Hoevenaars, who has worked with the likes of Scissor Sisters and The Pierces. Along with Swedish born vocalist and songwriter Moa Drugge. They performed exclusive new material with stand out track being Dirt + Grime with its deep landscapes and huge choruses.

With a packed house and a night of exclusive performances this is just the start of things to come. We will be back at Cargo once again for our next event with Mada Music on 20th April so be sure to watch this space for 3 more exciting acts to be announced shortly.

Vanessa’s debut EP ’Chapter One’ featuring new track ’Lipstick Kisses’ Ft Wretch 32 is out now with her album out later this year, for the iTunes EP download click here.
