Buried in a corner of East London’s Brick Lane, we explore the hidden little gem that is Hopscotch. The new ‘drinking den’ has constructed the perfect blend of deliciously curated dishes and zingy cocktails, together making the ideal post work destination.

The restaurant makes the perfect date scene for a chilled evening of sharing plates and getting giddy whether that be with your girlfriends, workmates, maybe even that special someone you planned to take out next week. Whoever you choose as your lucky plus one, the cosy atmosphere of post work companions will be sure to put a smile on your face.

Whether you choose to eat upstairs for a candle lit meal in the dining room space or bury yourself away from the outside world in the alcove basement downstairs, for an after-dinner cocktail, the restaurant offers it all. Despite the tight squeeze, the trendy London space stimulates a stress-free breezy atmosphere.

Don’t be put off by the diverse mixture of cuisines that makes it hard to tell your friends what genre of restaurant you will all be dining at. Sharing dishes is the way to go here, we recommend the Kohlrabi to start that pairs perfectly with the Burrata that is not to be missed. For all the cheese lovers, this creamy dish is beautifully combined with succulent roasted carrots topped with hazelnuts. Delicious. The aubergine flatbread, one of my favourites, full of flavours it is a meal by itself but is even better when shared and followed by the beef short ribs slavered in stock. The Asparagus is preferable over the mussels, not the best on the menu.

If that all doesn’t sound enough, the enticing drinks menu will be sure to satisfy. The Mexican Breakfast combines tequila, peach and apricot topped with egg white, what more could you want? The KD Royale, an elderflower mix of gin and fizz was another favourite and you can head downstairs to savour the bars additional drinks options if those aren’t enough. So, head down to this stress-free corner of Brick Lane for a chilled evening that could turn into, well, any way you want it. What can be certain is that the drinks and food will be sure to start your night off right.
