Discoverd by the Disney owned label Hollywood Records while busking on the streets of Madrid is the singer songwriter Alex Maxwell. Self described as being “Spanglish” with an Irish father and a Spanish mother her sound is a mix of Lana Del Ray and First Aid Kit with influences stretching from Stevie Nicks to Grimes.

After moving to London she was taken to the legendary Abbey Road Studios, a highlight of her short career so far, she goes on to say “Just to be part of that history made it the greatest day of my life.”  What followed was 4 tracks showcasing her contemporary twist on classic pop-rock, big hooks with big drums. Summing up her relationship between Madrid and London is the lead track of the same name ‘Lie To Me’ and we are thrilled to have the video premiere here on 1883.

Filmed in Madrid she wrote the song the during her move from her home city to London drawing on her mixed feelings, excited to be in London to pursue her passion but at the same time felting nostalgic toward Madrid.
