Penned ‘Sound of 2017’ by BBC Introducing Essex from Ollie WB who has been championing the band from the very beginning, Arcaves are one of the freshest new bands on the scene. Their first release of this year ‘Familiar Stranger’ has a revitalizing sound but keeps genres; soul, pop, trip-hop and indie-rock at close bay.

Flourishing distinct pop references from 90s records while honing in modern influences, their sound sits somewhere between Zero 7 and London Grammar. Billy Wright (vocals and guitar) explains “This song is kind of a realisation about the timing of relationships. During the writing session with our friend and co-writer, Ayanna Adannay, we were talking about how you can’t force or restart something once it’s run its course. When we produced it with Aviv Cohen, we wanted it to have that pop shimmer and we ended up taking influence from a lot of 90s tracks.”

ARCAVES are currently working on their forthcoming album whilst curating the first Oxjam Southend festival. This summer ARCAVES will be judging music talent and playing the London Bridge Summer City Festival on the bank of the Thames, whilst playing numerous festivals and venues around the country to support their newest release.
