If asked to describe BIGkids in one word, the word has to be fun. Buckets of fun really, but that’s more than one word.

Though they kept their identity under wraps for some time, we now know that BIGkids are Ben Hudson, as in Mr. Hudson (probably best known for his collaboration with Kanye West on Supernova) and Rose Oddie. BIGkids are relatively new to the music scene; you can count the gigs they’ve done on one hand- most notably supporting Panic! At the Disco at Brixton Academy earlier this month.

Their energetic DIY beats defy you not to dance, which seems to be duo’s aim, giving that their video for first single Drum In Your Chest is a carpark full of strangers breaking all manners of shapes. Drum In Your Chest, which has Hudson singing/ rapping alongside Oddie is infectious, crammed full of catchy vocals and bouncy, ska-like samples. Alongside this, their remix of Foster The People’s Call It What You Want has the same ska/come dance/ come Brit rap feel. It’s music that doesn’t take itself too seriously; it isn’t about your day job, your bills or your relationships. The band is making music that allows you to escape from adult life and into the world of big kids.

We know you’re a boy and girl from Camden but that’s all! What’s the backstory to Big Kids?

Ben saw Rosie singing with a noisy grunge band in the Flower Pot (a pub on Camden High ROAD). Ben then dragged her off to the studio to make some sweet music.

What’s the story behind your name?

BIGkids captures our refusal to grow up. Kids have more fun and can get away with crazy shit.

Tell us about your upcoming single Drum in Your Chest.

It’s a mess, but we love it. Kitchen sink basically. Too many ideas. More is more.

Your remix of Foster the People’s Call It What You Want is a lot of fun, any more remixes coming our way?

Yes please! We’d like to do as many as possible.

How was it opening for Panic! At The Disco at Brixton Academy?

We enjoyed immensely. A massive and appreciative crowd who could have ignored us but instead took us into their collective bosom and stroked us.

You’ve been receiving a lot of media attention recently, are you ready to hit it big?

YES! We think we’ve got an album’s worth of songs and we just wanna get out there and find some more BIGkids to join the pardeeee.

Flava Flav, Angus Young, Bez, Sammy Davis Jr, The Muppets.

Any festivals planned for this summer yet?

We will play any festival that will allow us on site.

Best bit of advice you can give us?

Our advice is "Don’t listen to other peoples advice".
